I scrolled and I scrolled
Until what I saw reached so close to reality
That it was able to break the cycle.
“HBD to my favourite person”
Said the innocent post
From an unknown z-list influencer
To another.
Then sat upright,
My mind returned to function,
And began original thought;
“Do I have a favourite person?”
Well of course not.
“A good teacher never has a favourite student”
But teachers definitely have favourites.
And so again, “a favourite person?”
Family, though in theory is correct,
is not a singular being.
Friendships, neither.
And if I was to suggest to one,
that they were in fact “my favourite person”,
There is no one I imagine would receive that
Without being puzzled.
So what then is this strange and perplexing gift
That some appear to have.
A person of mutual and exclusive favour?
And of what becomes of those who lack?
I guess this is why they say,
Scrolling is bad.
